Eighteen to thirty year-olds have made up the majority of cinema audiences for decades. Movie Group met weekly for 8 months, pairing significant films of the “New Hollywood” era (late 1960s/early 1970s) with the people most likely to have seen them during their first runs — a group of Vancouver residents aged 60 and up. The conversations that followed revealed a great deal about the collected individuals, and painted a detailed portrait of then and now.
Movie Group is a performative final report of our time spent with Sylvia Kwong, Kathleen Laverty, Bill Murdoch and Michael Noon. Created with Candelario Andrade, Anne-Sophie Woolnough, James Long and Maiko Bae Yamamoto.
